Karun, a young soldier from southern India, is stationed in Kashmir near the Pakistani border: his job is to patrol the road leading to the Muslim village. There he meets Faheem, a young local, whose smile captivates Karun.
Faheem – bound by the social taboos surrounding homosexuality within his religion – cannot live openly; Karun, for his part, must also hide his true self due to the constraints of his profession. The film explores the tension between love, identity and oppression in a region marked by conflict.
But just as the two grow closer, almost without exchanging a word, and forget the taboos of their cultures, gunshots ring out in the distance.
Onir is an Indian filmmaker, producer, screenwriter and editor who was born in Bhutan. He rose to fame with his film “My Brother… Nikhil” (2005)
