The copywriter Hannes Lücke is on his way to his home town of Münster for the family’s annual Christmas tradition. Just like every year – except this time, there’s one difference: the idyllic middle-class world is starting to crack; Hannes, who is married, has brought his young girlfriend Inge along and put her up in a hotel. Actually, on Hannes’s instructions, Inge is not supposed to be seen anywhere near him under any circumstances. But Inge throws a spanner in the works for him and his festive plans involving classmates, family and his girlfriend.
Ulrich Schamoni’s film won the Silver Bear and the FIPRESCI Prize at the 1967 Berlinale. It went on to win three further Federal Film Awards.
